Rainbow Goats uses a herd of approximately 100 goats as all-terrain "lawnmowers," moved between client properties inside portable electric netting to graze down unwanted vegetation, control invasive weeds and reduce bushfire fuel loads. Cheaper than machinery, safer than herbicides, and the goats leave behind fertilised soil rather than emissions or chemical residue.
Operating across the Northern Rivers, the business has grown into a well-known local brand with back-to-back bookings year after year, including repeat contracts with the Rural Fire Service and property developers. Minimum job size 8 acres keeps the work efficient and margins strong.
A genuine lifestyle business. Typical workload is 10 to 20 hours per week: the herder sets up netting and moves the goats to a fresh section every few days.
